BPOP Reveals HOF & Person Of The Year
• The Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia (BPOP) announced its nine 2024 Hall of Fame Honorees and its Person of the Year. Ten outstanding professionals who represent the best in the broadcasting industry will be honored and inducted into the BPOP Hall of Fame at the nonprofit’s annual gala on Friday, Nov. 22, at the Hilton City Avenue.
Pat Ciarrocchi, reporter and anchor for CBS Philadelphia from 1982 to 2015, has been named BPOP’s 2024 Person of the Year. Ciarrocchi is a 2000 BPOP Hall of Fame inductee, the first woman TV news anchor to be named to the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame, and now an honored philanthropist and community spokesperson.

Larry Andersen, former major-league relief pitcher and Phillies Radio Color Commentator since the 1998 season • Don Bell, CBS News Philadelphia Sports Director, and Emmy Award winning Sportscaster • Tina Costello, Account Rep for Beasley Media Group • Ed Dress, Content Producer for Temple University’s TUTV, & former Emmy Award-winning Investigative Producer for NBC10 and WCAU-TV • André Gardner, afternoon personality, 102.9 WMGK • Vince Giannini, retired SVP/GM of WPHL-TV • Loraine Ballard Morrill, News and Community Affairs Director for iHeartMedia, Philadelphia • Steve Nikazy, retired long-time News Anchor and Reporters Roundup host at KYW Newsradio • Bernie Prazenica, President/GM of WPVI-TV/6abc.
The hosts of the 2024 BPOP Hall of Fame gala are two BPOP Hall of Famers — Jim Donovan (Class of ’15), 15-time Emmy winner and anchor of CBS News Philadelphia’s morning and noon newscasts, and Scott Palmer (Class of ’05), Philadelphia Phillies Club Ambassador and beloved former WPVI (Action News 6)sports anchor.
