WWJ/Detroit Adds Pamplin, Ups Horne
• Audacy’s WWJ-AM (Newsradio 950)/Detroit bolsters its newsroom talent pool with the hire of market vet Tim Pamplin as a news reporter and the elevation of Darrylin Horne to full-time reporter.
Pamplin (left) joins WWJ Newsradio 950 after 30 years at local NBC affiliate WDIV-TV, where he was better known as “Nightcam,” an elusive fan favorite since 1999. He is a photojournalist and reporter and the recipient of two Edward R. Murrow Awards and three Emmys.
Horne (right) moves into her full-time role after serving as a part-time producer and reporter at WWJ Newsradio 950 since 2021. She was previously a weekday reporter and weekend fill-in producer at WLNS-TV/Lansing, floor director for WJBK-TV (Fox 2)/Detroit, sports event coordinator at BallerTV, commentator for TMZ, and sales coordinator at NCC Media.
“We couldn’t be more excited for Tim to join our news team,” said Debbie Kenyon, Market Manager, Audacy Detroit. “We plan to leverage his renowned breaking news reports to provide our listeners with quality coverage of each day’s top stories. We’re also looking forward to supporting Darrylin in this new role as she applies her skillful storytelling in everything from feature stories to contributions on our digital platforms.”
Pamplin remarked, “My childhood dream was always to be a TV cameraman or radio reporter. After 30+ years on the streets for WDIV-TV as an evening cameraman, my move to WWJ Newsradio 950 is nothing but a dream come true.”
Horne commented, “I’m so grateful to continue my journey here at WWJ Newsradio 950. This newsroom has allowed me to take on a variety of stories that have diversified my professional experience, and I can’t wait to continue that growth in this next chapter.”
