Lenzi Named News Director, KIRO/Seattle
• Bonneville’s KIRO Newsradio/Seattle is pleased to announce Frank Lenzi as its new News Director. He will succeed outgoing KIRO News Director Charlie Harger, who, as we previously reported, will take over as host of Seattle’s Morning News on KIRO Newsradio in January.
Lenzi, a 30-year industry veteran, is already well acquainted with the Seattle market, having spent the past 16 years at Lotus rival KNWN (Northwest News Radio) — formerly KOMO Newsradio — most recently serving as Program Director and News Director.
“We are thrilled to welcome Frank Lenzi to KIRO Newsradio,” said Cathy Cangiano, SVP/Market Manager of Bonneville Seattle. “Frank’s extensive experience and proven leadership in the industry make him the perfect fit for our team. His dedication to journalistic excellence and his ability to inspire and lead will keep our newsroom standards high. We look forward to the fresh perspectives and innovative ideas he will bring to KIRO.”
Bryan Buckalew, Program Director of KIRO Newsradio, remarked, “Frank has a deep commitment to keeping audiences informed and connected. I’m confident he’ll be a great addition to our team.”
“I am incredibly thrilled to have been invited to become a part of the news team at KIRO Newsradio,” Lenzi said. “KIRO has always been the gold standard for radio journalism, not only in the Seattle market, but across the country. It’s an honor to lead this fine team of veteran broadcasters.” He added, “Seattle is an important city when it comes to news and events. Other cities look to the example Seattle sets when it comes to politics, economics, and tourism. It is an important place to be, and an exciting place to cover. A lot of history is made in this town, and I love being in the middle of it.”
