Rusty James Circles Home To Frankfort

Rusty James has resigned his position as VP/Market Manager (and Acting OM) for Midwest Communications in Wausau, WI and is returning to his hometown of Frankfort, KY as the newly named Market Manager of Seven Mountains Media’s group, starting March 3 — Country simulcast WFKY-FM & WVKY-FM (Froggy 101.7 & 104.9), Classic Hits WFRT-FM & WKYL-FM (Passport Radio 103.7/102.1), and Hot AC WKYW-AM 1490/W228CL (Pop Radio 93.5).

James (left) arrived in Wausau in October 2020 as Brand Manager of Top 40 WIFC, and was elevated to VP/Market Manager in August 2021. He earlier served as VP of Programming & Operations for Max Media in Norfolk/Virginia Beach, preceded by 14 years as OM of Midwest’s four-station group in Evansville, IN.

James remarked, “I’ve really enjoyed my time working with Midwest Communications and wish to thank Pegge Wright, Peter Tanz, Michael Wright, Jeffrey Wright and Paul Rahmlow. Plus, a special thanks to the late Duke Wright. I’m looking forward to my new role in Frankfort, KY. I get the honor of returning to my hometown to be the Market Manager on the call letters I started on in 1983 at 14 years old — WFKY-AM.”

I look forward to continue to build on the great work Kristin and her team have already done.”
