WMSC Earns 16 National Awards
• Montclair State University’s WMSC Radio achieved significant recognition at the recent Intercollegiate Broadcasting Systems (IBS) Awards ceremony in New York City, earning four first place national awards and Finalist distinctions in 12 additional categories, for a total of… c’mon, mental math… 16 awards.
WMSC’s first place awards include Best Radio Drama for The Mysteries of Rathorne III • Best Community Outreach Program for Trans Day of Visibility in Montclair • Best Sports Play-by-Play for Soccer coverage • Best Promotion Director — Shannon Daly — her first win and second nomination.
WMSC also earned Finalist recognition in the following prestigious categories: Best Station in the Nation (more than 10,000 students) • Best Live Music Broadcast • Best Morning Show • Best Spot News • Best Campus-Community News • Best Podcast • Best Giveaway • Best Spot News • Best Show Intro • Best Sports Play-by-Play • Best Business Director (for Aly Erario).
“These awards reflect the incredible talent, creativity and dedication of our student broadcasters,” said WMSC Program Director, Emol McCormack. “From compelling dramatic storytelling to inclusive community programming and exceptional sports coverage, our team continues to demonstrate excellence across all facets of broadcasting.”
