Remembering “Jed The Fish”

• Edwin Jed Fish Gould III, better known and loved as “Jed The Fish” during his three decades of service at The World Famous KROQ/Los Angeles, died of lung cancer on Monday, April 14. He would have turned 70 on July 15.

A post on Jed’s Instagram feed reads: “At 6am on April 14, 2025, the world lost one of its most unique and brilliant personalities. Jed The Fish passed away peacefully in his beloved home, and the world will never be the same. RIP Jed, go be with Alice.”

Jed famously drove LA home during KROQ’s formative years, from 1978 until 2012. Subsequent SoCal stops include Cal State Northridge’s KCSN and KLOS before a brief return to KROQ’s ROQ of the ’80s HD-2 channel.

Monday afternoon, the outpouring of love for Jed was readily apparent, as KROQ vets past and present — Richard Blade, Freddie Snakeskin, Megan Holiday, Kat Corbett, former producer Lightning, and Gene “Bean” Baxter (calling in from the UK) and others convened in-studio with Kevin Ryder to share their favorite Jed memories. Video of this amazing two-plus-hour tribute is posted to YouTube.

We later stumbled upon this delightful 2017 video of Jed hosting “Fishure-Price 45 Friday.” Enjoy.

Variety has further details about Jed’s colorful life and career.
