• LM Communications’ Hot AC WCDA (Your 106.3)/Lexington, KY welcomes Jimmy Phillips aboard as APD and as the new co-host for Mandy Williamson on the Mandy In The Morning show. Phillips’ arrival set off a joyful radio reunion in the lobby for Phillips and Williamson — they were morning co-hosts together for three years at Magic Broadcasting Top 40 WILN (Island 106)/Panama City, FL until January, when Williamson was hired to topline her own wake-up show in Lexington. The band, as they say, is now back together.
WCDA PD Lee Reynolds said, “I want to thank all of the great personalities that applied for this opportunity. At the end of the day, though, it came down to the chemistry between Mandy and Jimmy and their history of working together. Jimmy is an awesome person, and a great fit for the morning show and the station — Lexington is going to love him.”
• Meanwhile, back in Panama City…. Magic Broadcasting OM Marc Summers is now searching for a new WILN morning co-host (dudes encouraged) to come play radio with Jenn Ryan. “I’m looking for someone young, edgy, totally millennial, with a sharp tongue, strong personality, and great comic timing,” he tells RAMP.
• Across the hall, the company is also seeking a new PD/morning personality for Active Rock sister WYYX (97X), as the famous Stroke Mastro (cool name!), recently left after 14 years to pursue a lucrative opportunity with Entercom Active Rock KRXQ (98 Rock)/Sacramento.
