Boomer Ready For What’s Next
On Sunday afternoon, Boomer shared his thoughts about this difficult situation via a heartfelt Facebook post that reads, in part: “I won’t pretend I’m not disappointed. I saw a real opportunity to build something special with a talented local team. But I also know this industry isn’t immune to difficult financial decisions, and I’m certainly not alone in facing them. Still, I can’t help feeling unfulfilled — not just in what long-term success would have looked like under my leadership, but in the opportunity lost to work alongside a group of dedicated on-air talent who each possess a passion for this job themselves. It’s a bummer, for sure.”
Prior to joining VOX AM/FM in February, Boomer was Operations Manager of Cumulus Indianapolis and PD of Country WFMS. He previously spent seven years as PD of iHeartMedia Top 40 WHQC/Charlotte, seven years with iHeart Top 40 KSLZ (Z107.7)/St. Louis and he programmed sister WRVQ (Q94)/Richmond. Earlier on-air stints include KHTS (Channel 933)/San Diego, WKBQ/St. Louis, WYHY/WRVW/Nashville and WZJZ/Ft. Myers, FL.
In closing, Boomer said, “What continues to fuel my passion for this profession — perhaps now more than ever — is the opportunity to create, teach, lead, and learn, and I’m fiercely focused on landing my next leadership role and pouring my passion into that position as I have so often before.”
For the immediate future, Boomer will temporarily relocate back to the St. Louis area to be near family as he plots his next career move. He can be easily accessed at boomeradio@gmail.com, and follow his employment history via his LinkedIn profile.
