Marie Osbourne Elevated At WJR 760/Detroit
• Cumulus News-Talk WJR AM 760/Detroit has promoted award-winning broadcast journalist Marie Osborne from Sr. News Analyst to the newly created position of Director of Community Affairs & News.
In making the announcement, Steve Finateri, RVP/Market Manager, Cumulus Detroit-Ann Arbor, said, “Marie Osborne is one of Michigan’s most respected broadcasters. Her high standards for broadcasting integrity have earned her this important role with WJR, helping us to maintain our brand as Michigan’s most trusted media outlet serving listeners throughout the Great Lakes region.”
A Detroit native and graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy, half of Osborne’s esteemed 40-year broadcasting career has been spent at WJR. She is a three-time winner of the national Edward R. Murrow Award for excellence in broadcast and digital journalism. She has also earned a national Headliner Award and the Neal Shine Award for Media Commitment to Philanthropy. Osborne is a three-time recipient of the national Women in Communications Awards and has been honored for her work with dozens of awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters and the Associated Press.
A former adjunct journalism instructor at Wayne State University, Osborne has reported from across the U.S., Europe and China and her work has been heard on ABC, CBS, Fox News, News of the World and BBC. In 2018, she and her family established the John T. Osborne Plaid Pig Culinary Scholarship at Schoolcraft College in honor of their late son and brother, who died of an undiagnosed heart condition at the age of 28.
