‘2 Guys Named Chris’ Will Continue

• Yesterday RAMP reported that Chris Demm, longtime co-host of the 2 Guys Named Chris morning show alongside Chris Kelly, announced his upcoming retirement after 27 years with DBC Classic Rock WKRR (Rock 92)/Greensboro and several affiliates, effective in late March.

Jason Goodman, VP of Programming for Dick Broadcasting, called Demm (left) “an incredible talent and storyteller who has entertained the not only the Triad, but other syndicated markets, mostly in the Southeast. After an emotional announcement [Tuesday] morning we had tremendous outreach to him and to thank him for his radio service. Several times the 2 Guys Named Chris show has been rated the No.1 morning show by share in the country within the Top 50 markets.” In closing, Goodman said, “I have worked with Chris Demm for over 20 years. He is an incredible talent, has had an incredible career and is an incredible guy.”

DBC CEO Taylor Dick issued a statement that reads, in part, “Chris leaves behind a legacy that will be felt for a long time. The word ‘legend’ gets overused, but in Chris Demm’s case, it fits.” Dick added, “Chris has been a steady presence for the several hundred thousand people in our community who have laughed at his jokes and marveled at his knowledge week after week. More importantly, Chris has made all of us better — through the example he set, the relationships he’s built, and the way he represented DBC every day. On behalf of the entire company, thank you, Chris — for the work, the time, the commitment, and the legacy you leave behind here.”

Although one guy named Chris is leaving, the team reiterates that the 2 Guys Named Chris show will continue. Looking ahead, co-host Chris Kelly notes, “We have some exciting options right here at the station. We have several very talented people on staff that we will be asking to take more of a role on the show moving forward. There is no way to replace Chris Demm, but we’re confident we have the dedicated young broadcasters to continue to make a great show.”
