• So great to see Shane Collins back in action again…. Collins, who notably spent a decade in Louisville with Cox Media Group (and later, SummitMedia) as OM/PD of Country WQNU (Q103.1), is making his triumphant return to radio as the newly named afternoon drive personality at CMG Country WHKO (K99.1)/Dayton, OH, starting today. He will replace Jake Ryan, who had been tracking the shift remotely for an extended period.

The new gig marks a radio return in more ways than one for Collins, who A) Previously tracked afternoons on K99.1 until 2012, and B) Had been out of the business since leaving SummitMedia in Feb. 2018. RAMP got the inside scoop from K99.1 PD Nancy Wilson, who explained, “When Jake gave his notice in December, I knew Shane had been out of the business, but I tracked him down and sent him a text. We hadn’t talked in years, but he was intrigued. Long story short, Shane is now out of ‘radio retirement’ and ready to launch with us Monday. We were beyond honored when he said he would not consider coming back for anyone other than WHKO!”

Collins was equally enthusiastic about his return, telling RAMP, “WHKO is just too good to pass up. It’s an amazing station, and the people there are awesome!”
