Audacy Market Managers Reimagined

• Audacy was most certainly front-and-center this week, what with elimination of the traditional Market Manager role in favor of a group of 10 Regional Vice Presidents, all reporting to a group of five Regional Presidents. And let’s not forget those whose positions were eliminated during this transition. Those names are posted HERE.

In some markets, the Market Manager has been reclassified as SVP of Sales, others took on new roles, and several left the company. RAMP has confirmed that Greenville SVP/MM Steve Sinicropi and St. Louis SVP/MM Becky Domyan have exited.

Sinicropi joined Audacy Greenville in March 2013, crossing the street after a decade as Market Manager for Cox Media Group’s cluster. Prior to his arrival in Greenville in February 2003, Sinicropi spent five years as GM of CBS Radio’s WKRK/Detroit, preceded by 11 years as GM of WLUM/Milwaukee. Domyan joined then Entercom in Feb. 2018, transitioning from her role as Director of Sales crosstown for Emmis when Emmis announced the sale of its STL group.

• RAMP has learned that Atlanta Market Manager Rick Caffey (left) and Boston Market Manager Mike Thomas (right) have taken on new corporate responsibilities, as laid out in a staff memo from Chief Business Officer/NY Market President Chris Oliviero, and obtained by RAMP — “Rick has accepted a position as Chairman and will continue to advise our Atlanta market and help grow the appeal of our Urban format for both listeners and clients, working closely with our Urban Format Vice President, Skip Dillard,” Oliviero said. Caffey has more than three decades of management experience in Atlanta, dating back to his start with CBS Radio in 1994.

Thomas is returning to his programming roots as SVP of Programming for Boston and Sports Format Vice President, based at WEEI, “and will collaborate with fellow Sports Format Vice Presidents Mitch Rosen and Chris Kinard on our industry-leading sports portfolio.” Let’s not forget that Thomas was one of the architects of Beasley’s WBZ-FM (98.5 The Sports Hub), which he is now competing against. In Oct. 2021, after a two-year stint as Market Manager for Good Karma Brands’ WMVP (ESPN 1000)/Chicago, Thomas returned to Boston, joining Audacy as SVP/Market Manager. Thomas earlier worked for CBS Radio as VP of Sports Programming, VP of Programming for CBS Radio Boston and PD of WZLX for 11 years.
