Eastern Carolina Rocks Again!

The move back to the station’s longtime Active Rock roots began at midnight on Friday, April 3, followed by a weekend of wall-to-wall rock music for grateful listeners across the market.
It was August 2021 when WXQR, then billed as one of the region’s oldest Rock radio stations, flipped to Regional Mexican, and rebranded as La Pantera 105.5. Two years ago the station transitioned to Spanish Rhythmic as Candela 105.5.
Upon hearing Rock music once again blasting out of the speakers, Operations Director Crystal Legendsexclaimed, “I couldn’t be more excited to resurrect Rock 105.5 and bring Rock back where it belongs, right here in ENC.” Market Manager Tony Denton concurs, adding, “The return of Rock is something the public has continued to ask for during its absence. Today we made it happen.”
The new lineup kicks off with the Compass Media Networks-syndicated Dave & Mahoney Show from 5-10am ET, followed by local air talent — Lisa in middays, in addition to afternoons on sister WQSL (92.3 The River), Promotions Coordinator Rose “Ro” Hawkins in afternoon drive, and nonstop Continuous Rock throughout the night.
