Like 7-Eleven, WMSC Open 24 Hours

This year’s global theme is “HOPE — Always In The Air!” — a nod to radio’s role as a source of connection for listeners and the students who make it. For WMSC Programming Director Alyssa Arroyo, the day has been part of that story from the start. “World College Radio Day was the holiday that showed me how beautiful the WMSC community is,” said Arroyo, who will personally begin the festivities at midnight with the “World College Radio Day Kickoff Extravaganza.”
Arroyo added, “Being able to showcase a variety of DJs and their specialty shows is such an exciting experience that simply cannot be replaced. Having hope, especially in this climate, is hard to achieve; however; World College Radio Day here at WMSC has shown me that it is still possible.”

The afternoon brings “Who Covered It Better?” at 1pm, where “Dr. K” (the swinging alter ego of Montclair President Jonathan Koppell), DJ Chris and Bellamix battle versions of A-ha’s “Take On Me” head-to-head, followed by a two-hour Music Team Takeover. In the evening, alumnus Tom Kaminski and crew revive “Back To The Future” for two hours starting at 7pm, and the day closes at 11pm with “Senior Sendoff,” hosted by the station’s winter seniors and senior general assembly members.

FYI: WMSC is once again a finalist for College Radio Station of the Year at the upcoming 2026 NAB Marconi Radio Awards — its eighth finalist selection in nine years. Winners will be announced Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the Edison Ballroom in New York City. [Special thanks to our friend, WMSC GM Anabella Poland]
