Nickels & King Upped At Mix 107.3
Cumulus Hot AC WRQX (Mix 107.3)/Washington announced two in-house promotions — MD/midday personality Ashley Nickels has been rewarded with fully functional (and fashionable) APD stripes, and Seth King has been upgraded from part-time to become Mix 107.3’s new fulltime 7-midnight air talent.
In making these dual announcements, Mix 107.3 PD Rob Roberts said, “Ashley was doing the job the day I walked in the building on January 1. I’m just making it official. She’s an amazing talent with a great work ethic and passion for the station, music and promotions.” Commenting on King’s elevation, Roberts continued, “When I first heard Seth’s aircheck, I knew there was something special about him. It was one of those moments PDs are hoping for when they listen to someone new. Now, after hearing him on the station part-time these last few months, I knew he was the guy who could shake things up. Seth is ready for D.C. and D.C. is ready for Seth!”
Nickels (above, left) joined WRQX in July of 2014, hired away from nights at Entercom Top 40 KDND (107.9 The End)/Sacramento. Prior to that, she did nights on KLUC/Las Vegas. Nickels exclaimed, “WOW! APD in a Top 10 market! Mama, I made it! I am so thankful for this opportunity to work with such a talented and respected programmer, Rob Roberts. I can’t thank Rob, Market Manager, Jake McCann and Mike McVay enough for giving me a chance to play such a big role with WRQX. As a female in this industry it can be tough sometimes, but Cumulus has always believed in me and encouraged me to take the next step. I look forward to our continued success together — onward and upward!”
Prior to joining Mix 107.3, King (left) plied his trade at WXXX (95 Triple X)/Burlington, VT, WBRU/Providence, WXSS (103.7 Kiss FM)/Milwaukee and WMMM (105.5 Triple M)/Madison, WI. King said, “I’m quickly realizing the culture at Cumulus is one of always building people up. Everyone is driven and positive, and I can’t wait to accomplish great things with Rob and the entire programming team! Thanks to Rob, Jake McCann and Mike McVay for all the support.”
