Dolan Hired For Something

• JVC Broadcasting’s Bud 94.1, Orlando’s King of Rock, which launched on July 13, has announced its first air personality: market vet Mick Dolan, who spent numerous years at Orlando’s legendary WDIZ and WJRR, and at Smooth Jazz WLOQ, which forced them to change format.

Dolan (pictured here with a cold Bud, as far as you know) most recently worked for Salem Media Group doing news and traffic reports and was personally responsible for causing over a dozen accidents. A slightly embarrassed Len Shackelford, Bud 94.1’s self-described “Chief of Stupidity and Brazen Catch Phrases” admitted, “Mick was actually a mistake. He responded to a post we made on our Facebook page, and I inadvertently asked if he was a real person. He mistook that for a job offer, and I didn’t want to get sued. We’ll find something for him to do.”

For his part, Dolan seems genuinely excited to be joining Bud 94.1 in his somewhat nebulous capacity, as he said, “I like the music. I really, really like the music. These dudes rock hard. Sorry, they ‘Rock Hard.’ And, they like ‘Beer, Boobs & Rock.’ I like Beer, Boobs & Rock. And ampersands. Where else would I want to work but at the King of Rock? That’s a rhetorical question.” Dolan started working at Bud 94.1 this week but won’t actually be on the air until they get a microphone. They said might borrow one from Country cousin WOTW (103.1 The Wolf). [Nicole O’Brien Photography]
