Jacksonville Programming Cavalcade
iHeartMedia just completed a number of significant programming upgrades within its Jacksonville, FL cluster — let’s start with a new SVP of Programming — as you know, the group has been without a SVPP since Tommy BoDean left in July — that situation has now been remedied, as Market President Nicky Sparrow laid out in a staff memo, announcing that G Wiz (left), PD of Urban WJBT (93.3 The Beat) and Urban AC WSOL (V101.5) “will be the permanent SVP of Programming.”
And there’s more: Cindy Spicer (second from left), PD of Country WQIK is now sporting the newly enhanced title of Senior Program Director, Skip Kelly (second from right), is promoted to PD of Top 40 WKSL (97.9 Kiss FM) and Seth Harp (right) is upped to PD of WFXJ (SportsRadio 930). Kelly retains his current duties as PD of Adult Hits WWJK (107.3 The River) and Latin Tropical Rumba 106.9 (WQIK-HD2).
For Kelly, the move means triumphant return to the Kiss PD chair, where he originally reigned from 2004-2006 under its former call letters, WFKS. In a Facebook post, an excited Kelly said, “For the past three months I’ve been working as interim PD of 97.9 Kiss FM… I’m happy to say that this week they made it official and gave me the station. 97.9 was the station that brought me to Jacksonville over 13 years ago and it’s great to be back at the helm.”
Sparrow added, “We are very fortunate to have such talented people in our building. Each one of them goes above and beyond to ensure iHeart Jacksonville’s success. They are great resources for us as well as the company as a whole.”
