‘We Can Survive’ Thrives
Congrats to the CBS Radio family on the success of its fifth annual — and largest — We Can Survive show on Saturday — an event with an important mission to raise money — and awareness — about beating breast cancer. Thousands of fans jammed the iconic Hollywood Bowl to enjoy an evening of performances that kicked off with RCA’s rapidly rising star, Khalid, followed by Sam Hunt, Kesha, Lorde, Sam Smith, Alessia Cara, Macklemore (joined by Skylar Grey), Harry Styles, a surprise appearance by Niall Horan and the amazing P!nk, who closed the show.

For several of the artists, like Macklemore, the cause hits home personally — when he was a boy, his grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankfully, she was successfully treated and is alive and well today. Macklemore told Laurie Perez of KCAL9-TV/Los Angeles, “My motivation is the cause. My grandmother is a breast cancer survivor — so it is near and dear to my heart and it’s just an amazing opportunity to raise awareness and money and come together as a community and rally.”
Because October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, $2 from every ticket sold went to benefit Young Survival Coalition (YSC), the premier organization dedicated to the critical issues unique to young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer.
