Major Memphis Morning Movement

• Back in September, we told you Entercom AC WRVR (104.5 The River)/Memphis had lost its longtime morning show when Mike & Mandy resigned after 13 years. The company has now chosen to remain inside the family talent pool to fill that prime vacancy — Chris Michaels, Director Of Branding & Music Programming tells RAMP, “We are excited to announce that Ron Olson, who has hosted mornings on Hot AC sister WMC-FM (FM100) for the past 34 years will be transitioning over to WRVR in January. Joining him will be Karen Perrin, who used to be his morning show partner at WMC several years ago.” The newly branded Mornings with Ron Olson and Karen Perrin will debut in January on 104.5 The River.

In a staff memo, Michaels said, “I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am about this new opportunity for both Ron and Karen. They have great chemistry from their time together on FM100 in the past, and will without a doubt bring a lot to the table at WRVR. I would like to personally thank Ron Olson for everything he has done for FM100. Ron has hosted mornings on FM100 for 34 years, and that is not only a major accomplishment, but speaks high volumes about Ron’s personality and character. I can’t wait for Ron and Karen to get started in January.”
