2017 AMAs Fly High
Bruno Mars took home six awards, including Artist of the Year, during last night’s 2017 American Music Awards, which celebrated 45 years of music from the Microsoft Theater. The show was hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, star of ABC’s black-ish, and the evening became a very special family affair, with Tracee and her family on hand to presenting the American Music Award for Lifetime Achievement to Tracee’s mother, the legendary Diana Ross, who treated fans to a killer medley of “I’m Coming Out,” “Take Me Higher,” “Ease On Down The Road,” “Best Years Of My Life” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”
And speaking of tributes, Christina Aguilera took the stage to honor the late Whitney Houston on the 25th anniversary of The Bodyguard with an incredible homage, performing “I Will Always Love You,” “I’m Every Woman,” “I Have Nothing” and “Run To You.”
Other memorable moments included P!NK and Kelly Clarkson opening the show with “Everybody Hurts,” while P!NK (pictured) later stopped more than a few hearts with a gravity-defying performance of her new single, “Beautiful Trauma” while tethered to the side of the nearby JW Marriott.
The show also included knockout performances from Kelly Clarkson, Lady Gaga, Niall Horan, Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato, Macklemore and Skylar Grey, Shawn Mendes, and Portugal. The Man. Selena Gomez debuted her new single, “Wolves” with Marshmello, and there were collaborations from Alessia Cara & Zedd, Imagine Dragons & Khalid, Hailee Steinfeld & Alesso ft. Florida Georgia Line and watt, and Bebe Rexha ft. Florida Georgia Line with a special encore performance presented by Xfinity. The complete list of winners is posted at theamas.com.
