Award Shows & Whatnot
• ABC and dick clark productions announced that the 2018 American Music Awards are moving to Tuesday, October 9 and will roll live on ABC from 8-11pm ET. The AMAs traditionally honor artists across multiple musical genres, including Pop/Rock, Alternative Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, Adult Contemporary, Contemporary Inspirational, Latin, EDM and Soundtrack, alongside awards for New Artist of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, Tour of the Year, Video of the Year, Favorite Song and Artist of the Year.
• And while we are on the subject, NBC and dick clark productions have set Sunday, May 20 for its live telecast of the 2018 Billboard Music Awards. The three-hour show airs live at 8pm ET/5pm PT on NBC, part of a new multi-year deal signed last November.
Just like the AMAs, Billboard Music Awards finalists are based on key interactions with music fans, as well as album and digital songs sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring and social engagement, tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound. The finalists and award winners are determined using data reflecting a 12-month tracking period.
