Emerson Adds Four To WERS HOF
• Emerson College’s legendary WERS 88.9/Boston will honor four alumni and their outstanding contributions to the radio industry with their induction into the WERS Hall of Fame this Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Jackie Liebergott Black Box Theatre, in the Paramount Center on the campus of Emerson College. Here are this year’s inductees:
• Tori Bedford (’15), Former co-host, George and Tori In The Morning on WERS. Emmy award-winning journalist based at GBH News.
• Doug Holloway (’76), Emerson College Trustee, Former Host/Producer, The Black Experience on WERS. A media executive with more than four decades of experience in network, cable and streaming television strategy, sales, marketing and development.
• Darrylyn Paxton (’96, posthumous), Former host, 88.9@Nite on WERS. Former team liaison for the Boston Celtics, production assistant to on-air personalities at WJMN and WHDH-TV, and communications assistant at Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
• Matt Shearer (’09), Former host of Radiobeat on WERS. Reporter for WBZ NewsRadio, best known for his viral storytelling on social media as “Reporter Matt.”
The WERS Hall of Fame was created in 2009 to honor alumni and faculty who contributed to the station’s success or who have distinguished themselves through their career accomplishments in the industry. “There’s a wealth of media industry talent who cut their teeth at WERS,” said GM Howard Simpson. “This will be the first ceremony since 2019 and I’m really looking forward to it.”
