Mercedes Is Your 2018 Airblazer

• The Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio (MIW) Group is pleased to announce Mercedes Martinez, the longtime host of Mercedes in the Morning on Entercom Hot AC KMXB (Mix 94.1)/Las Vegas as the recipient of the 2018 MIW Airblazer Award. Mercedes has done mornings on Mix 94.1 since 1997 and has been acknowledged throughout her career for her many accomplishments on-air as well as her dedication to her local community. Now in its 4th year, the MIW Airblazer Award is awarded annually to a deserving on-air personality and stems from an alliance formed in 2015 between the MIW Group and Talentmasters Morning Show Bootcamp (MSBC). Erica Farber, MIW Group Executive Committee member and RAB President & CEO, and KRBE/Houston morning co-host Roula Christie, last year’s MIW Airblazer, were on hand to present the 2018 Airblazer Award to Mercedes last week during the 30th Annual Morning Show Bootcamp in Chicago.

“It is the MIW Group’s privilege to acknowledge an industry veteran like Mercedes,” said MIW Group Spokeswoman Denyse Mesnik. “She has an exceptional ability to engage listeners, and generously uses her influence to make the community in which she lives a better place. Mercedes represents the very heart of what radio does best.” Talentmasters President Don Anthony added, “So thrilled to see Mercedes bestowed this honor. So amazing. So deserving.”

Martinez (pictured here, right, with Erica Farber), said, “I am beyond grateful to work in this industry. I think the most gratifying part of our job is being able to create bonds with our listeners. I’ve watched and idolized all the women (Ellen K, Angie Martinez and Roula Christie) that have won this award in the past, and to be included in this group is an honor I never could have imagined. As the mother of two daughters, being a role model to girls and women is something that I take very seriously, so the MIW Group Airblazer Award is especially meaningful.”
