Musicians On Call: Top 10 Nonprofit
On Monday of this week, The NonProfit Times, the leading national business publication for nonprofit managers, announced its 2021 list of the “Best Nonprofits to Work For,” and we are pleased to report that Nashville-based Musicians On Call was recognized among 50 national nonprofit organizations for the third consecutive year, ranking 9th among nonprofits nationwide! MOC was also the only nonprofit based in Tennessee to appear on the list. The NonProfit Times also spotlighted Musicians On Call in a special feature about this year’s list.
MOC President & CEO Pete Griffin commented, “During a year when navigating the day-to-day work environment presented many new challenges, I’m so proud of the Musicians On Call team for their commitment to helping one another thrive within the organization. At MOC we are passionate about creating a work space that encourages compassion, community, inclusivity, innovation and excellence. It’s an honor to have The Nonprofit Times continue to recognize our organization for our dedication to these values.”
In a follow-up conversation with The NonProfit Times, Griffin discussed the subject of health insurance, revealing that MOC pays 100% of the premiums for its employees. “Staff are our program, so in that sense, people partnering with hospitals are a large part of program costs,” he said, adding, “That is our cost of doing business. That’s been my approach, take care of employees holistically. You have to have the best talent. You can have great strategy and mission,” he said, but that means nothing if there are not great people executing. “We don’t just look at it as an increase in expenses. This is why we don’t have turnover amongst our staff; how they’re treated and respected.” To see the complete NonProfit Times Top 20 list, visit thenonprofittimes.com.
