Condolences: J.R. Reitz
• This one was a shocker today — J.R. Reitz, best known as the former longtime PD and morning personality on Townsquare Media Top 40 WFHN (Fun 107)/New Bedford, MA, died unexpectedly at his New Bedford home on Monday morning. He was 66 years old.
Reitz notably spent 20 years at Fun 107, starting in 1994 as the host of J.R. and Kookinbocker in the Morning. Reitz later co-hosted the show with Sharon Fogaren, who passed away suddenly in 2009. Reitz announced his retirement from Fun 107 in Dec. 2013 and temporarily relocated to Arizona. Earlier this year he returned to the market as an afternoon news anchor on 1420 WBSM.
Sadly, Reitz had just started hosting a new morning show on WPLM (Easy 99.1)/Plymouth, MA before his passing. WPLM has posted a tribute to Reitz on their Facebook page.
