Remembering Bob Eatman
Yesterday we received the sad news that longtime “Super Agent” Bob Eatman of Robert Eatman Enterprises passed away on Sunday, September 24 at the age of 65 after a battle with cancer. According to his company’s website, Eatman graduated from Indiana University School of Music with a degree in both Music Performance and Business. He then played French horn professionally throughout Europe and the U.S. Eatman later earned a law degree from the Chicago Kent School of Law in his native Chicago. In 1991, he founded his talent agency, Robert Eatman Enterprises in Los Angeles.
Eatman (left) represented many radio notables over the years, including Opie & Anthony, Mancow Muller, Don Geronimo, The Regular Guys and Shane “Rover” French, host of the syndicated Rover’s Morning Glory, who tweeted the photo below and heartfelt sentiment, saying, “To the best agent (and friend) in the world, thanks so much for the past 18 years. You advised not just in business, but in life. #BobEatman”
Gregg “Opie” Hughes released a series of tweets paying tribute to Eatman, starting with this one that read, “With a heavy heart I announce the passing of Super Agent Robert Eatman. For 20 yrs he guided me w/ honor in a business filled w/ dishonesty.”
Hughes continued, “I never went to bed thinking Bob wasn’t trustworthy. He truly cared about me, my family and the rest of his clients. He made sure I was set for the future beyond radio. He showed me how to be a man and a good family man. Back in 2002 he opened up his home to me at the worst possible time cause he knew I was lost. Not once did he ever say it was a bad time. His kindness and generosity was second to none. He loved talking about his loving wife and boys. I can feel the smile through the phone when he was giving me updates. Selfless! When I got fired he was on the phone with me showing deep concern trying to figure out what he can do for me. He made calls on my behalf.\
In conclusion, Hughes said, “I know now he was dying as he was showing this concern! Who does this? Bob does, that’s who! His influence on me and countless others will live on. He truly was one of a kind. He was way more than my agent. He was my brother, my friend, and a father figure. He was family and will live on in my heart. Love to Robin and the boys at this incredibly difficult time.” Eatman is survived by his wife Robin, sons Jonah, Justin and Noah and his brother and fellow agent/attorney, Ross Eatman.
