Suspect ID’d In Hussle Murder
• Los Angeles Police are actively seeking 29-year-old Eric Holder, who they believe is the prime suspect in Sunday’s murder of rapper Nipsey Hussle.
As first reported by The Associated Press, the LAPD believes Holder is the individual who shot Hussle multiple times outside his store, Marathon Clothing, in South Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon before fleeing in a white 2016 Chevy Cruze (license plate # 7RJD742), possibly driven by an unidentified woman. Two others were also injured in the shooting. Hussle, 33, whose given name was Ermias Davidson Ashedom, was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. According to Variety, an autopsy was performed on Monday, which determined that he died of gunshot wounds to the head and torso.
Hussle had recently purchased the Hyde Park strip mall where his store is located and had planned to redevelop it into a mixed-use commercial and residential complex. The plan was part of Hussle’s broader ambitions to remake the neighborhood where he grew up and attempt to break the cycle of gang life that lured him in when he was younger.
• On Monday evening, while hundreds gathered at memorial for Hussle outside of his store, a fight apparently broke out and a stampede ensued, leaving at least 19 people injured, two of them critically — one of them struck by a car and the other had a “penetrating injury,” although it’s still unclear whether that person was stabbed or cut by broken glass, a fire department spokeswoman said. Two other injuries were serious and 15 were considered non-life-threatening.
Police have asked anyone with information on the shooting to call 323-786-5100.
