Alpha Media Pros On The Loose

UPDATED: More Alpha Media cuts, starting in Bakersfield, which have resulted in the departure of longtime market veteran Erik Fox, Operations Manager of Top 40 KLLY (Energy 95.3), Rhythmic Oldies KKBB (The Groove 99.3) and News-Talk duo KNZR-AM & FM.

Fox shared his unwelcome news in a lengthy Facebook post.

Fox is a 28-year industry pro who was hired by previous owner Buckley Broadcasting in 2000, and was originally on-air at KLLY (then Kelly 95.3) from 2000-2015 and served as APD/MD from 2001-2011. He later spent five years in middays on Rhythmic Oldies sister KKBB (The Groove 99.3) before he was named PD of KLLY in May 2020. He was upped to Operations Manager of KLLY, KKBB and News-Talk duo KNZR-AM & FM in September 2023. Fox can be contacted at foxtrax@gmail.com.

• Lincoln, NE: Jenn West exits as morning host at Top 40 KFRX after nearly three years. West had returned to her home state of Nebraska in August 2021 as co-host of the Jenn & JDub Show with now former Content Director Joe “JDub” Dobbins after 14 years in Colorado Springs, where she worked for Citadel and Cumulus.

In a Facebook post breaking her news, West noted: “3 Guarantees In Life — Death, Taxes & Heartache… 3 Guarantees In Radio — Hard Work, Light Pay & Budget Cuts.” She added, “I’ve accomplished so much in my short 3 years in Lincoln and I can’t express how sad I am to be bundled in budget cuts AGAIN. Thank you for embracing me, supporting my show so much that it reached #1 (more than once), spending your mornings with me and helping me rescue EVERY SINGLE dog.” Jenn West can be contacted at jennwestco@gmail.com.

• Fredericksburg, VA: Tiffany Kay is out as morning co-host on Country 93.3 WFLS. Co-host Steve Waters is now rolling solo.

In a Facebook post, Kay wrote, “I know I was not the only one in the entire company to be cut lately or in the radio industry in general, so my condolences go out to others going through this tough time. It’s unfortunately the industry we are in. All I can say is I had a blast here in Fredericksburg on WFLS. I got to laugh every day, interact with listeners and hear your stories, lose my voice at concerts and build a huge loving and supporting WFLS family that I am blessed to have been a part of the last 3.5 years.”

On a more uplifting note, Kay adds, “I also got to grow professionally, harness my skills, learn from my mentors, challenge myself, win an ACM Award for Best Small Market Morning Personalities, win 2 Virginia Association of Broadcasters awards for Best Medium Market Morning Show Personalities and Best Community Program, and be nominated for a CMA Award for Best Small Market Morning Show Personalities.” Kay can be reached at tiffanykayradio@yahoo.com.
