Baronfeld To Run Pacific Media Oahu
• Pacific Media Group has named David Baronfeld as the new Market Manager/GM for its Oahu, Hawaii radio group — KDDB (102.7 Da Bomb), 94.7 KUMU, KQMQ (931 Da Pa’ina) and KPOI (ALT 105.9) — effective February 18. As we previously reported, the company’s Oahu and Kauai properties are currently overseen by Terry Gillingham, who is set to retire at the end of the month. We are told to expect an announcement regarding a new GM for the Kauai properties, soon.
Baronfeld previously held leadership positions at Sony-Warner Worldwide Networks, Noble Broadcast Group, Metro Networks/Westwood One and Viamedia. After three years with AM 830 KLAA/Los Angeles, owned by the Los Angeles Angels, Baronfeld relocated to Honolulu as GM of Viamedia/Hawaiian Telcom. Since 2018, Baronfeld has served as Director of Sales at Hagadone Media Group Hawaii, overseeing advertising sales for This Week Publications, This Weeks’ in-room hotel TV product, and other custom publications. He’s also the author of the Sales Chapter of Creating Powerful Radio, an internationally acclaimed book specializing in the sales aspects of News-Talk/Spoken Word radio formats.
“After an extensive nationwide search, David was the perfect person to step in as the leader of the Honolulu stations,” says Chuck Bergson, Director, President and CEO of Pacific Media Group. “He is a proven and accomplished leader who has extensive experience in the radio business, has excelled in medium and large markets across the country serving in all aspects; programming, engineering, promotions and sales. David has been successful in the Hawaii business community, developed key relationships, and has an understanding of what makes Hawaii such a special and unique place to live and do business.”
Baronfeld remarked, “I’m excited and honored to be joining Pacific Media Group’s Oahu radio stations. It’s a great cluster with great people, and I look forward to becoming part of the Oahu team.” Bergson added, “In the end, what made David different from the rest is his understanding of what makes radio ‘magic,’ and that is when it is live, local and community-based.”
