Borneman New GM Of Baltimore’s Bay
• Veteran broadcast executive Steve Borneman has been named as the new General Manager of Times-Shamrock Classic Rock WZBA (100.7 The Bay)/Baltimore, with a start date of Jan. 10. Borneman succeeds Jefferson Ward, who announced his retirement last September after 10 years as GM and has stayed on since then to ensure a smooth transition.
The move marks a return to the Times-Shamrock family for Borneman, who servd as GM of the company’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton group from 2014 to 2016. “We had a strong field of candidates who were very interested in leading WZBA forward,” said Times-Shamrock CEO Jim Lewandowski. “Steve wanted the opportunity to come back and work with a company that embraced a family culture, empowers managers to create compelling content and drive revenue through creative marketing concepts and strong client relationships. We are excited to have Steve back on the team.”
Borneman began his radio career in Boston as an Account Executive before embarking on a 20-year run with WPLJ & WABC/New York, the last six years as President & General Manager. After his stint with Times-Shamrock Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Borneman was named Chief Operating Officer for Pamal Broadcasting, and in 2020 he served as COO of Jam Media Solutions until the WZBA GM position became available.
“I’ve known and admired Jefferson Ward for many years, and I’m honored that he and Jim Lewandowski have invited me to return to the company as the next manager of The Bay,” said Borneman. “Jefferson, Joe Heffron, Steve Huber and the entire WZBA team have created one of America’s truly great radio stations and I will do my absolute best to live up to the amazing legacy of 100.7 The Bay!”
