Butler Segues To Spotify

Last week we told you that longtime Curb Records VP of Promotion John Butler had a new gig lined up — this week, we are at liberty to reveal that Butler is joining Spotify as Head Of Christian Music, beginning Monday, April 24. In his new position, Butler will remain based in Nashville and will oversee Christian music globally for Spotify through playlist curation, programming and written editorial. He will report to Doug Ford, Spotify’s Sr. Director North America, Shows & Editorial, Content & Creator.

Butler spent the past 15 years at Curb Records, most recently as Vice President of Promotion. He has over 20 years in record promotion in nearly every genre of music, from Alternative to Hip Hop to Pop. Prior to his tenure at Curb, Butler served stints as Head of Promotion for Squint Entertainment (home of Sixpence None The Richer) and Arista Austin. Earlier in his career Butler was the New York-based Director of National Promotion at Jive/Silvertone Records, preceded by a similar post at TVT Records. JB got his first industry break as an intern at Z100/New York in 1990.
