Clary Named Deputy Editor Of WNYC/NYC
• Stephanie Clary, VP of Digital Entertainment at VICE Media is joining New York Public Radio’s WNYC/New York in the newly created role of Deputy Editor, with a start date of Aug. 30.
The news of Clary’s hire was shared with the staff in a memo from WNYC Editor-in-Chief Audrey Cooper, which reads, in part, “In Stephanie, we have found a truly impressive journalist with deep experience covering local, national, international and breaking news on both digital and broadcast platforms. She has developed strategies to enhance newsroom innovation and dynamism, and she will bring those skills to WNYC as we continue to grow our audience, expand our reach and produce impactful journalism that improves the lives of people in New York City and our region. As Deputy Editor, Stephanie will oversee our news coverage, working with the editors in charge of multiplatform desks to align our journalistic priorities.”
Prior to her stint at VICE, Clary was Director of Social Publishing at CNN, a Managing Editor at Mic and Managing Editor of the NBC start-up, Breaking News. Clary shares Edward R. Murrow, Webby and Shorty awards with her team at CNN and the 2016 Gannett Foundation Award for Technical Innovation with her team at Breaking News. She was also part of the Seattle Times team that won the Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Coverage of the 2009 Lakewood shooting in Washington.
