Condolences: Ken Roberts
• UPDATED: We were deeply saddened this weekend to learn that veteran radio executive Ken Roberts, VP/Market Manager for Cumulus Washington, DC, died Saturday night, April 3 of an apparent heart attack at the age of 65.
Roberts was elevated to the Market Manager post in Nov. 2020, from his previous position as VP of Sales for News-Talk 105.9 WMAL and Sports-Talk WSBN (ESPN 630: The Sports Capitol), succeeding Jake McCann, who had returned home to Philadelphia to lead The HOW Group, LLC, a real estate investment group.
Prior to joining Cumulus DC in late 2016 as VP of Sales for WMAL and the late WRQX (Mix 107.3)/Washington, Roberts was SVP of Sales for iHeartMedia/Clear Channel Baltimore & Washington. Earlier in his management career he served as Director of Sales for Bonneville Phoenix and General Sales Manager for Susquehanna/Cumulus Dallas-Ft. Worth.
In a statement, Dave Milner, Cumulus EVP, Operations, said, “The Cumulus family is sad to confirm the news that Cumulus Washington, DC, VP/Market Manager Ken Roberts has died. This is such tragic news and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Ken was a passionate and smart professional, who cared greatly for the team in D.C. He has been a friend and coach to so many in radio and we’re all better because of our time with Ken. We send our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Ken’s family, and are grateful for the time we had with him.”
Jack Diamond, former longtime morning personality on WRQX said of Roberts, “He was a really good guy, always uptempo, always positive. He loved talent, loved putting people and deals together, and most of all, he loved his wife and children dearly.” Roberts is survived by his wife, Sandy, son Erik and daughters Alix and Casey.
