Entercom Sets Revised Management Structure
• In a lengthy staff memo from Chief Operating Officer Weezie Kramer, Entercom yesterday formally laid out its ambitious post-CBS Radio merger management structure. At the outset, Kramer said, “All Entercom Market Managers will be elevated to Senior Vice President to be consistent with CBS title nomenclature. Additionally all Entercom Regionals will receive the President title.”
Entercom’s new Regional Presidents are Doug Abernethy, Susan Larkin, Dave Alpert, Mark Hannon and Brian Purdy. Abernethy will oversee Miami, Orlando, Gainesville, Atlanta, Denver, Greensboro, Greenville, Charlotte, Houston, Austin, Richmond, and Norfolk. As was recently announced, Larkin will serve as SVP/Market Manager for Entercom San Francisco and also have regional oversight of Riverside, Sacramento and San Diego. Alpert will manage Kansas City and oversee Madison, Milwaukee, St. Louis and Wichita. In additional to his Dallas Market Manager responsibilities, Purdy will have regional oversight of Las Vegas, New Orleans, Chattanooga and Memphis.
Alpert and Purdy will report to Bob Philips, Chief Revenue Officer/Regional President, who will also oversee Baltimore, Philadelphia, Hartford, Providence and Springfield. Mark Hannon remains Market Manager for Boston and adds regional oversight of Buffalo, Washington, DC and Wilkes-Barre, reporting to Michael Doyle, President of Sales Operations/Regional President, who will also have regional oversight of Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland, Rochester and Seattle. Keriann Worley, VP/Director of Sales for CBS Radio Miami will move up into the Miami SVP/Market Manager position, succeeding Doug Abernethy. Bennett Zier becomes SVP/Market Manager for Entercom Virginia, adding the management of Richmond to his current Norfolk responsibilities.
As part of this new structure, Entercom welcomes back some very familiar names — John Fullam is the newly named Market Manager of Entercom Denver; Jeff Federman makes his triumphant return as SVP/Market Manager of Los Angeles and longtime Chicago media exec and entrepreneur Jimmy de Castro has been named as SVP/Market Manager of Entercom Chicago.
Fullam (left) was Market Manager for Greater Media Philadelphia for the past 12 years. Prior to that, he was briefly President/COO of CBS Radio and spent six years as SVP/New York Regional for Clear Channel. Federman (center) famously ran the CBS Radio Los Angeles cluster from 2004-2008, and de Castro (right) was most recently President & GM of WGN Radio and is the former CEO of AMFM, Inc. He will succeed Tim Pohlman, who can be reached at timlpohlman@gmail.com.
Now, back to our regularly scheduled Market Manager announcements: Phil Zachary is named SVP/Market Manager for Hartford, and will also oversee Providence and Springfield; Bob Bolinger will serve as SVP/Market Manager for the combined CBS/Entercom stations in San Diego, and Peter Schwartz will join the San Diego sales leadership team as a General Sales Manager. In Atlanta, Rick Caffey remains SVP/Market Manager of the combined CBS/Entercom portfolio, and Mike Fowler joins him as VP of Sales; Jack Hutchison will retain SVP/Market Manager duties for the revised Entercom footprint in Seattle and Lance Richard will be SVP/Market Manager over the combined CBS/Entercom cluster in Sacramento. And, finally, Dan Kearney will take on SVP/Market Manager responsibilities of Las Vegas.
Earlier this year, Entercom announced Bill Ashenden as SVP/Market Manager for Portland and Chris Wegmann as SVP/Market Managers for New Orleans.
