Entercom Stands For Diversity, Equity, Inclusion
• Like many companies large and small trying to navigate through these troubled and unstable times, Entercom is seeking an equitable way forward. In a staff memo, obtained by RAMP, Entercom Chairman, Pres. & CEO David Field addressed several important topics. The memo reads, in part, “At the core of who we are, Entercom is a values-based organization dedicated to serving our communities and making positive, meaningful impact. We know that we do not have all of the answers, but we are working hard on this to ensure that we respond and act thoughtfully. We are committed to improve as an organization and doing our share to help us improve as a nation. We stand firmly against bigotry, injustice and discrimination against any group or individual and we will not be silent when we see it happening around us.”
Field continued, “Today, I am sharing some actions that we will be taking immediately. We have formed a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion task force to help us develop our plan in the days ahead. The team will be co-headed by Sarah Harris, VP of Social Impact, and Rick Caffey, SVP/Market Manager in Atlanta. The task force will also include Reggie Rouse, Urban format leader and Brand Manager of V-103 and News & Talk 1380 in Atlanta; Jenna Weiss-Berman, Co-head of Pineapple Street Studios; Mike Dash, EVP, Deputy General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer; Alana Lujan, Director of Sales in Houston; Deborah Kane, SVP of Training, Development and Diversity; and Khirlu Burton, Video Engineer at RADIO.COM.”
Field reports that Entercom has also joined the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion, described as an organization “committed to supporting a more inclusive and diverse workplace for employees, communities and society at large.” He added, “We will be taking a number of actions that we believe will lead to meaningful change and progress: 1) Building a more diverse organization; 2) Strengthening a culture of inclusion and respect, and 3) Helping to foster a more just, equitable and inclusive nation.”
In closing, Field said, “This is the beginning of a long road ahead. We have a lot of work to do, and it is our sustained commitment to these efforts that will make us a better organization and our work even more meaningful to the communities we serve every day. I look forward to working together to do our share to help build a more just and equitable world.”
