Go Back To School With Dina LaPolt!
• Only in L.A. can you take a class from one of the music industry’s true legal luminaries — the awesome Dina LaPolt, famed for her fearless approach to seeking justice, best known for taking down the White House TWICE for using Steven Tyler‘s music, and for being the leading force behind the Music Modernization Act… and now you can take her class at UCLA!
For the 19th year, Dina is teaching her Legal and Practical Aspects of the Music Business class again — and registration is now open! Hailed as the must-attend class by the music industry, those who have taken Dina’s class have gone on to become managers, agents and executives at Maverick, Nettwerk, Mercenary Management, Three Six Zero, Red Light Entertainment, APA, WME, Universal, Sony and Warner Brothers Records.
LaPolt, who is married to one of our favorite people — RCA’s Wendy Goodman — was personally recognized on the floor of the U.S. Hours of Representatives this year for her groundbreaking, pro-bono work, and was intimately involved in the settlement negotiations between SiriusXM and the major labels just moments before the Music Modernization Act went to the Senate floor. As the first meaningful copyright reform in decades, the MMA helps ensure that songwriters and artists receive proper compensation and brings U.S. copyright law into the 21st century. UCLA has opened online registration for this highly acclaimed music business course. For more details about this course and to register, please visit uclaextension.edu.
