Maki, Brainin Exit Meruelo Media
• RAMP has learned that Meruelo Media has made two major management changes in Los Angeles — SVP/Market Manager Val Maki and VP of Sales Janet Brainin have exited. We understand Meruelo Media President/COO Otto Padron will handle Market Manager duties for now.
Ms. Maki (left) famously spent 33 years with Emmis Communications, 20 of those with KPWR (Power 106)/Los Angeles as SVP/Market Manager. When Meruelo Media closed on its $82.75 million acquisition of Power 106 last August, Maki’s role was expanded as she was named SVP of Meruelo’s Radio Division and SVP/Market Manager for Power 106 and Meruelo Classic Hip Hop KDAY/Los Angeles and Rhythmic KDEY/Riverside. Last October, KDAY and KDEY entered into a simulcast of KDAY’s programming.
