Phil Zachary Exits Entercom
• RAMP has confirmed that Phil Zachary, former SVP/Market Manager for Entercom Boston and Washington, DC has left the company after seven years. Zachary had been serving in a corporate role working on special projects for Entercom since last November.
In a lengthy Facebook post, Zachary announced his departure, saying, “Today, May 30th, is my last at Entercom. My current contract is ending, and it’s just time. I accepted the offer of David Field and Weezie Kramer to join the company in September, 2013 and have zero regrets. Both have become dear friends, and I’ll be forever grateful for the countless opportunities afforded me.”
He added, “Along the way, I’ve worked with some extraordinarily dedicated corporate VP’s I now count as friends including Jenny Nelson, Michael Doyle, Pat Paxton, Deborah Kane, Steve Salhany, Johnny Palumbo, Noreen McCormack and Tim Murphy. In addition, I’ve been so privileged to lead best-of-breed teams in Boston, Providence, Springfield, Hartford and Washington, D.C., and I’m both proud and humbled to say we outperformed our respective revenue markets in 71 of the 75 months I was in charge. I seriously doubt anyone can match that record, not that it matters. As they say, ‘You’re only as good as your last Miller-Kaplan.'”
Zachary joined Entercom in October 2013 as SVP/Market Manager of the company’s Boston group, and also oversaw Hartford, Springfield and Providence. He transferred to Entercom DC in June 2018, replacing Steve Swenson. Zachary previously ran the DC cluster from 1996-2002 working for CBS Radio. Earlier in his career Zachary spent 11 years as President/COO of Curtis Media Group Raleigh. Before that he served as VP/Market Manager for HMW Communications and Voyager Communications in Raleigh and for Clear Channel New Orleans.
