Raise A Glass To Jefferson Ward
• After 45 years in radio, the last decade as GM of Times-Shamrock Classic Rock WZBA (100.7 The Bay)/Baltimore, our longtime friend Jefferson Ward announced his impending retirement, effective when his successor is named.
“Working for 100.7 The Bay and Times-Shamrock Communications for the last ten years had been an incredible way to wrap up my career,” said Ward. “The company has given me the opportunity to be a part of a station that represents all of what I fell in love with radio for: a team that is very much like a family, music that people celebrate, creativity in imaging and promotions and the chance to make a difference in the community.” Jim Lewandowski, CEO of Times-Shamrock commented, “Jefferson’s leadership over the past 10 years has resulted in outstanding performance all while maintaining our core values and family culture. I’m very happy for Jefferson, but he will be missed.”
Ward has been in his current post since Nov. 2011. He previously spent three years as Market Manager for Clear Channel’s six-station cluster in Salisbury-Ocean City, MD, and he spent some quality years in Philadelphia as GSM of Beasley’s WRDW (Wired 96.5) and Radio One’s WPLY & WPHI and PD of iHeartMedia’s WIOQ (Q102). Earlier programming stops include WKSS/Hartford and WAEB/Allentown, PA. Bonus: Since 2014, Ward, a.k.a. “Jefferson, The Craft Beer Guy” has hosted a weekly feature called Craft Beer on The Bay, live every Friday at 5:10pm and 6:10pm and available as a podcast.
• The search is now underway for Ward’s successor. “We have a strong team in place in Baltimore and are looking for someone who will continue WZBA’s track record of exceptional success,” said Lewandowski. “To ensure a smooth transition, Jefferson will continue as WZBA’s GM until we find the right person for this outstanding radio station.”
Candidates should have a minimum of three years experience as a GM or Market Manager, preferably in a large or major market. Prior experience in both Sales and Programming would be ideal. Interested applicants should send cover letter, resume and salary requirements to Mike DeSau, Times-Shamrock Director of Human Resources, at mdesau@timesshamrock.com. EOE.
