Spurgeon Joins Salem Media Group

• Salem Media Group announced the hire of Gary Spurgeon as Senior Vice President, Special Projects for Salem’s Broadcast Division.

Spurgeon most recently served as VP/GM of Radio One’s Houston cluster — Rhythmic KBXX (97.9 The Box), Urban AC KMJQ (Majic 102.1), Top 40 KPRI (Radio Now 92.1) and Inspirational Praise 102.1 (KMJQ HD2) until August 2017. Spurgeon joined Radio One in April of 2011 as VP/GM of the company’s Dallas cluster, and relocated to Houston in March of 2015 when Doug Abernethy left the company.

Earlier in his management career, Spurgeon worked in Jacksonville, FL as GM of Renda Broadcasting’s group and Market Manager for the Cox Media cluster. From 1999-2004 Spurgeon was Regional VP/GM for Regent Communications.
