End Of The Steve Harper Era
Harper announced his decision in a Tuesday Facebook post that read, in part, “I’ve decided to hang up my headphones and rest radio to focus on my family and my company, Harper Marketing. Today was my last day on air. It’s been an amazing radio ride that began as a 9-year-old’s dream, becoming reality when I was 17. Four decades filled with unforgettable memories of music, events and connecting us during every hurricane and snowstorm.
He continued, “I’m proud to end with one of highest-rated morning shows on Long Island and blessed to have worked with many talented artists and colleagues. I’ll truly miss being part of mornings for millions of amazing listeners. It wasn’t a job… it was like friends getting together. I’m looking forward to pursuing my passion to help people grow their business through marketing. Maybe I’ll be back on air someday, but for now, I’ll be getting 7 hours of sleep. I haven’t done that for three days in a row since I was in 11th grade. Sleep is underrated! Thank you for supporting me along the way – it will always mean the most to me. Love and peace to you and your family.”
