Lyons Marks 35 Years At WEBE 108
Over the course of his three-plus decades of service at WEBE, Lyons has been one of the most successful midday radio personalities in the country, achieving double-digit ratings and often reaching more than 30% of radio-listening females in Fairfield County. In the latest Fall 2021 ratings period, Lyons was once again No. 1.
Lyons also created The WEBE 108 Kidsfest, a signature station event for kids and families that ran nearly 30 years, and The WEBE 108 Christmas Wish, which has given out tens of thousands of dollars to those in dire need every holiday season. He’s also been a tireless supporter of many charities and community organizations, most notably The Ronald McDonald House.
Lyons grew up in Waterbury, CT and began his radio career 50 years ago — in 1972 — at WLIZ/West Palm Beach, FL. He later returned to his hometown and spent the next few years at WWCO before moving over to New Haven’s legendary AM Top 40 13 WAVZ in 1978, where he first began hosting the midday slot in the market. After subsequent stints at KC101/New Haven, 96TIC-FM/Hartford and the legendary 66 WNBC/New York, Lyons arrived at WEBE 35 years ago this week!
Commenting on his amazing run in the same daypart at the the same station in the same market, Lyons remarked, “The time has literally flown by, and I still enjoy being part of the lives of so many great listeners in Southern CT.”
