Morning Is Knapp Time In DC
• After 11 years of service as APD/afternoon drive stud at iHeartMedia Top 40 WIHT (Hot 99.5)/Washington, Toby Knapp will unplug and cross the hall to AC sister WASH-FM as the station’s new morning co-host, plugging in across from Chilli Amar on Monday, Dec. 4.
“We’re thrilled to add Toby Knapp to mornings at 97.1 WASH-FM and team him with Chili Amar,” said Jill Kempton, the newly named Program Director of WASH-FM. “Coming from afternoons at our sister station Hot 99.5, Toby is the perfect choice to evolve the 97.1 WASH-FM morning show — making it even more of a destination for our already significant work day audience!”
Knapp’s background includes earlier stops in Columbia, SC, Tampa, Philadelphia and Lancaster, PA. He began his radio career in Stroudsburg, PA. “After over a decade on Hot 99.5 in afternoons, it’s an honor to be given the chance to co-host mornings on DC’s monumental 97.1 WASH-FM,” said Knapp. “With the overwhelming support of the iHeartMedia Washington, DC team and the resources being readied for us, I’m beyond excited that Chilli Amar and I have the opportunity to bring something truly magical and unique to our nation’s capital.” In the interest of continuity, Knapp will continue to do his afternoon show on Hot 99.5 through the end of the year.
