Morning Buzz Can… & Does
• iHeartMedia New Hampshire’s Greg & The Morning Buzz, syndicated all over the Northern New England region proudly announced that its 30th annual Lend A Helping Can Radiothon and fundraiser has so far raised over $247,000 — and counting — to benefit 12 area charities working to combat local hunger and homelessness.
On Thursday, Nov. 19 & Friday, Nov. 20, Greg & The Morning Buzz extended its normal broadcast day into a 13-and-a-half-hour radiothon, from 5:30am-7pm. On-air personalities from the morning show encouraged listeners to donate to Lend A Helping Can by calling the station or by participating in an online auction. “We were quite literally blown away by the response — especially this year,” said Greg Kretschmar, the “Greg” component of Greg & The Morning Buzz. “We had far fewer auction items due to the pandemic, but the phones never stopped ringing! It was amazing to see our audience step up to help to help their neighbors.” Pictured, taking a post radiothon celebratory stance, (l-r): Morning Buzz castmates Laura Boyce, Kelly Brown, Greg Kretschmar, Scott “Roadkill” McMullen and Kayla Winsor.
Lend A Helping Can started 30 years ago as a canned food donation drive. As the support from the New Hampshire community grew, the fundraiser evolved into an online auction and a radiothon. Last year, Lend A Helping Can raised over $175,000 to benefit local charities, and since its inception, the event has raised well over $1.2 million and hundreds of tons of canned food items to feed residents in need. The presenting sponsor for the radiothon is the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.
