‘Town To Town, Up & Down The Dial’
• Now that we’ve successfully embedded the theme song from WKRP In Cincinnati in your head all over again, please enjoy this story about Colorado… after weeks of rumors, iHeartMedia’s Denver Region formally announced programming changes in Denver, Fort Collins and Colorado Springs — most notably, an expansion of the broadcast footprint of Active Rock KBPI/Denver, which is now beginning its migration from its current home at 106.7 to its new Denver dial position of 107.9 (thanks to an assist from translator K300CP).
KBPI will now also “Rock The Rockies” on 107.9 in Ft. Collins, as Classic Rock KPAW moves to a stronger signal on 92.9 (formerly KYWY), newly rebranded as 92.9 The Bear. KBPI also gets a third simulcast partner on Active Rock 107.9 KDZA/Pueblo-Colorado Springs.
“I’m excited to bring revamped rock programming to rock fans across Colorado,” said Tim Hager, President of iHeartMedia’s Denver Region. “The opportunity to take The Bear heritage brand and serve a larger Northern Colorado footprint and simultaneously take the heritage brand of KBPI to truly ‘Rock the Rockies’ across the entire state will serve our listeners, partners and the community in a tremendous way!”
• We understand KPBI will continue to be heard on 106.7 in Denver until the end of the year, when the company will launch a new format on 106.7, strongly rumored to be Country.
