Everyone Wins This Food Fight
• We want to take this opportunity to send our love and respect to Ashley O, co-host of The Big Mistake morning show on Entercom Alternative WSFS (104.3 The Shark)/Miami, who was recently honored by the Broward County School Board and School Superintendent Robert W. Runcie for her work with “The Big Mistake’s Food Fight,” a terrific program she launched last year that is dedicated to paying off the student lunch debt accumulated within all Broward County public schools. This noble and ambitious initiative aims to help children who have been denied nutritious lunches because of unpaid debt, and thus ensures that no child goes hungry.
To date, “The Big Mistake’s Food Fight” has raised over $20,000 and has successfully paid off the student lunch debt at 40 Broward County schools, which equates to 8,686 school lunches.
Fun Fact: Ashley O (pictured here with her co-host, Mike “Spanish” Gregory) is a South Florida native who developed her love for radio while attending Bayview Elementary School, making the morning announcements for the school’s news station, WBAY. She continued doing morning announcements at Sunrise Middle School and Fort Lauderdale High School and entered a radio internship program after graduation. The rest, as they say, is history.
