It’s Another Albany ALT
• Townsquare Media just added another Alternative player to the Albany, NY radio landscape — after several days of stunting as “Shamrock 105.7,” the company flipped WQSH from ’90s-based “Rewind 105.7” to ALT 105.7, Albany’s New Alternative. The flip comes less than 72 hours after Albany Broadcasting flipped WINU from Sports-Talk to the hauntingly familiar sounding ALT 104.9, Albany’s New Alternative.
As the press release states, “ALT 105.7 will give music fans in Albany a true alternative through an expertly curated playlist with modern and mainstream alternative music and some classic alternative hits. The playlist will feature Imagine Dragons, Portugal. The Man, Green Day, Muse, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Twenty One Pilots, Pearl Jam, Vance Joy, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers, Blink-182, Coldplay, Beck and more.
ALT 105.7 is celebrating its launch by putting the music first and rolling commercial-free. OM Steve Richards says there are no staff changes as a result of the flip.
