Busy Weekend For iHeart Madison
• iHeartMedia Madison is in for a busy weekend, what with that “Big Game” and all, as the company announced 1) the rebranding of Sports-Talk WTSO-AM (The Big 1070) and relaunch as 1070 The Game, “Madison’s Sports Talk That Rocks,” effective Monday, February 3; and 2) the end of WTSO’s FM simulcast on 100.9 and the launch of Classic Hits U100.9 using translator W265CV.
1070 The Game will feature a bunch of your favorite syndicated Sports-Talk personalities like Steve Czaban, Dan Patrickand Colin Cowherd, along with Madison’s ownMike Hellerin afternoon drive. “Wisconsin has a strong and diverse sports fan base,” said Drew Lautner, Market President of iHeartMedia Madison. “We believe we have assembled the best of the best to deliver news, commentary, differing opinions, on-field insight and an occasional laugh to our loyal listeners.”
• The new U100.9 will launch on Saturday, Feb. 1 and focus on hits from the ’60s and ’70s from The Beatles, Supremes, Rolling Stones, Three Dog Night, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, etc. You get the idea.
“I’m extremely excited to be part of this new station launch,” said Drew Lauter. “Madison misses missed having a station that is dedicated to playing true ’60s and ’70s music — so we’re excited to step up and bring back a station of this format to the community, giving listeners what they want with the new U-100.9.”
