Condolences: Mark “Woody” Wood
• Thomas Mark “Woody” Wood, best known as the longtime morning host on iHeartMedia Classic Hits WBVB (B97)/Huntington, WV, died Oct. 16 at the far-too-young age of 51.
After graduating from Marshall University and marrying the love of his life, Woody began his career in broadcasting. He did overnights on iHeartMedia Top 40 WKEE/Huntington for a few years, before making his move to mornings on sister B97 for many years. Just recently he had transitioned his show over to Oldies WLGC (Kool Hits 105.7), serving the dual markets of Huntington, WV and Ashland, KY.
Wood is survived by his wife, Jennifer Ann Mahurin Wood; two sons, Andrew Thomas Wood and Nicholas Mark Wood, sister Rebecca, brother Charles and other relatives and friends. A socially-distant drive-through visitation service will be held this Saturday, October 24 from 10am-noon at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home in South Point, OH. A smaller funeral service for family members only will be held following the visitation.
• The B97 Facebook page contains a nice tribute to Woody, which has garnered a huge number of condolence messages from heartbroken listeners.
