Celebrate Andy Preston’s Life
• The many friends, family members and colleagues of Andy Preston will gather this Sunday to celebrate the life and career of the popular West Palm Beach radio personality who died unexpectedly on April 10 at the age of 63. Preston’s radio career spanned over 40 years; the last 28 years were spent at iHeartMedia Classic Rock WKGR (98.7 The Gater)/West Palm Beach, where he served as MD and afternoon personality.
Sunday’s event will run from 5-8pm at the Coral Sky Amphitheater in West Palm Beach and will include a lot of loud rock & roll, great memories and Hawaiian shirts… just the way Andy would have wanted it. Because of Preston’s long history with the venue, Joe Nieman, SVP/GM at Live Nation Florida is donating the use of the amphitheater and security for this free event, which is open to all friends, fans and lovers of Classic Rock. All proceeds from food trucks sales and beer vendors are being donated to a charity in Andy’s name.
The main stage will feature some of Andy’s favorite local bands, including Beyond Blonde, Saturday Night Special (Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute), The Marshall Brothers (Allman Brothers tribute) and Zepplica (Led Zeppelin tribute). A few surprise guest musicians will sit in for a jam session grand finale. Andy’s family and local radio personalities will take the stage between sets to pay tribute to their dear friend whose heart was as big as his record collection. A giant video wall on stage will highlight memories of Andy’s life with photos contributed by friends and family from all over the U.S. For further information, contact Ethan Briner at ethan1788@gmail.com.
